We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Benefits Coordinator. This role is responsible for independently supporting the administration of employee benefits programs, maintaining accurate employee records, resolving routine benefits issues, and coordinating benefits-related transactions with employees, Payroll, vendors, and internal stakeholders. The Benefits Coordinator serves as a knowledgeable resource for employees and supports Open Enrollment, benefit audits, reporting, and other related activities.
Requirements
~2 min read- Level 1 – Benefits Coordinator I (Entry-Level):
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 0–2 years of administrative, human resources, benefits, payroll, or related experience.
- Ability to learn and apply employee benefits policies and procedures.
- Level 2 – Benefits Coordinator II (Intermediate):
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3-4 years of administrative, human resources, benefits, payroll, or related experience.
- Experience supporting employee benefits administration, including enrollments, qualifying life events, eligibility, deductions, or benefit inquiries.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data reconciliation.
- Level 3 – Benefits Coordinator III (Advanced/Senior):
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5-6 years of administrative, human resources, benefits, payroll, or related experience.
- Demonstrated experience independently administering employee benefits programs and resolving complex benefits issues.
- Experience with benefits billing reconciliation, eligibility audits, and benefits data analysis.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data reconciliation.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with COBRA, 401(k) plans, health and wellness programs, or other employee benefit programs.
- Experience with benefits billing reconciliation and eligibility audits.
- Experience with HRIS or benefits administration systems, such as ADP.
- Experience with Excel functions, including VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP.
- Progress toward SHRM-CP, aPHR, or PHR certification.
- Previous experience working with Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs).
- Previous government contracting experience.
- Ability to interpret and apply benefits policies and procedures.
- Ability to use HRIS, benefits administration, and service ticketing systems.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Possesses attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers and with outside agencies, partners, shareholders, and business associates.
- Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to adapt messages and strategies for diverse audiences.
- Proficient understanding of relevant software, tools, and systems used in the corporate environment. This includes proficiency in standard software applications, including Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) with strong knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft applications.

Responsibilities
~1 min read- Administer routine employee benefits processes, including enrollments, qualifying life events, status changes, new hires, transfers, and terminations.
- Maintain accurate and timely employee benefits records and eligibility information.
- Process Benefit tickets assigned through ServiceNow, responding to employee inquiries, resolving routine issues, and escalating complex matters as necessary.
- Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and provide accurate information regarding benefit programs, processes, and eligibility.
- Support annual Benefits Open Enrollment activities, including system updates, employee communications, issue resolution, and follow-up.
- Collaborate with Payroll to research and resolve benefits deduction discrepancies related to life events, status changes, new hires, transfers, and other employee changes.
- Coordinate benefits-related communications and documentation for new hires and existing employees.
- Maintain benefits documentation and records in accordance with company policies and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Input, review, and update employee information in benefits administration and HRIS systems.
- Prepare and analyze routine benefits reports, including enrollment, eligibility, deduction, and participation data.
- Perform benefits billing reconciliation and research discrepancies between enrollment records, vendor invoices, and payroll deductions.
- Support benefits audits and assist with researching and resolving eligibility discrepancies.
- Assist with vendor communications and routine benefits administration issues.
- Identify process issues and recommend improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
