This role is expected to be in the office 4 days a week. The Schwab Technology Services (STS) Portfolio & Project Management (PPM) organization partners with Business and Technology Leaders to prioritize and execute technology work for strategic business sponsored initiatives, enhancements, as well as standard technology operations, production support, and technology enablement to ensure STS capacity is focused on the most important work for the company. What you’ll do:
As an IT Project Manager, Sr Specialist you are responsible for establishing and leading enterprise-wide, cross functional strategic initiatives. They lead a variety of different types of projects including launching new products and services, medium-scale application development, systems integration, operational efficiency improvements, process reengineering, and infrastructure upgrades and deployments. We are currently transitioning to a scaled agile model, therefore this role will need both traditional project management, as well as scaled agile methodology experience.
This role is a key member of Schwab’s Service portfolio supporting the firm’s Service Technology solutions. The candidate in this role will drive large, complex technology projects that enable Schwab to provide exceptional customer service.
- Drive execution of complex initiatives by building and maintaining integrated delivery plans that connect strategy to execution
- Leverage structured planning and organization skills to manage scope, timelines, cost, quality, risks, and dependencies across multiple projects
- Apply critical thinking and problem solving to identify root causes, remove blockers, and guide teams toward effective solutions
- Use strong communication and relationship-building skills to align stakeholders, influence decisions, and drive clarity across a matrixed organization
- Collaborate with Agile teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and engineers) to support delivery practices and ensure consistent progress
- Foster accountability and follow-through by ensuring commitments are met and outcomes align to business priorities
Through formal and on-the-job training, you will:
- Build deeper expertise in cybersecurity program delivery and enterprise technology portfolios
- Expand your ability to navigate complex, highly regulated environments and large-scale transformation efforts
- Strengthen your skills in Agile delivery practices, stakeholder alignment, and enterprise prioritization frameworks
- Gain exposure to strategic planning, capacity management, and portfolio-level decision-making

Requirements

- 3+ years of project management experience delivering small to medium-scale initiatives within technology or product-driven environments
- 3+ years of experience using project management tools and artifacts (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, project budgets, status reporting)
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams, setting direction, managing priorities, and resolving conflicts to achieve desired outcomes
- Proven ability to deliver projects end-to-end, including scope, schedule, cost, and quality management
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify root causes and drive effective solutions
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of project management experience in financial services or highly regulated environments
- Experience working within Agile and Scrum methodologies
- Experience managing projects within a cybersecurity or technology portfolios
- PMP or PMI-ACP certification
