Information Systems Security Officer, Senior (TS Clearance w/SCI eligibility)

AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a 100% employee-owned contractor company, is seeking an experienced Senior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support our customer's Special Access Program at NAS Jacksonville, FL.
This role requires a highly capable information systems security professional with extensive RMF and JSIG experience, strong authorization package expertise, and demonstrated ability to manually develop, organize, and maintain Bodies of Evidence (BOEs). The successful candidate will apply sound technical judgment to complex security issues, produce accurate and defensible security documentation, and work effectively with government, technical, and security stakeholders to support mission-critical national security systems.
Responsibilities
~1 min readAs a Senior Information Systems Security Officer, you will:
- →Maintain the security posture and operational readiness of assigned information systems.
- →Partner with ISSMs, ISOs, system owners, administrators, engineers, assessors, and Authorizing Officials.
- →Prepare and maintain RMF authorization packages and supporting security documentation.
- →Conduct system reviews, self-inspections, continuous monitoring, and security assessments.
- →Develop and maintain system descriptions, network topologies, security plans, POA&Ms, and assessment artifacts.
- →Create, organize, and maintain Bodies of Evidence manually without GRC tools.
- →Apply RMF, JSIG, SAP, DoD, NIST, and applicable STIG requirements.
- →Review system changes and conduct security impact analyses for hardware, software, firmware, configuration, and authorization boundary changes.
- →Coordinate proposed changes with the ISSM, ISO, AO, or DAO before implementation.
- →Monitor system recovery activities to ensure security protections are restored and functioning properly.
- →Ensure proper procedures are followed for clearing, sanitizing, storing, transporting, and destroying media and hardware.
- →Review audit records, document anomalies, and support vulnerability remediation efforts.
- →Support assessments, audits, inspections, ATO activities, design reviews, and corrective action tracking.
- →Prepare security status reports, briefings, and other program documentation.
- →Maintain accurate, current, and accessible security records.
- →Provide RMF support to DoD, National Agency, SAP, and contractor organizations.
- →Travel within CONUS, generally up to 10 days annually.
Requirements
~1 min read- U.S. citizenship required to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Active TOP SECRET/SCI clearance with SAP eligibility.
- 8-10 years of relevant experience in roles such as ISSO, ISSM, system administrator, network administrator, cybersecurity analyst, or security engineer.
- DoD 8140 IAM Level III certification, (e.g., CISSP, CISM, C-CISO, GSLC) or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months from hire
- Experience supporting classified or mission-critical information systems.
- Deep knowledge of the DoD RMF process, including authorization and continuous monitoring activities.
- Working knowledge of DoDI 8510.01, NIST SP 800-37, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-53A, CNSSI 1253, DoDM 5205.07, JSIG, STIGs, and SRGs.
- Demonstrated JSIG experience supporting Special Access Program information systems.
- Experience manually creating, compiling, and maintaining Bodies of Evidence without GRC tools.
- Experience preparing authorization packages, POA&Ms, control documentation, assessment artifacts, and continuous monitoring reports.
- Experience conducting security impact analyses for system changes and configuration management activities.
- Strong understanding of system and network administration, access control, audit logging, vulnerability management, and secure configurations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and produce accurate, inspection-ready documentation.
Travel: Up to 10 days annually within CONUS to support program requirements.
