The Service Writer position will maintain the Company fleet for maximum equipment life and minimal downtime. Coordinate, prioritize and schedule fleet repairs and inform customers of the progress of the work.

Responsibilities
~1 min read- → Determine the scope of the repair or maintenance work needed to be done.
- →Prioritize the work repair orders and communicate the information to the department manager and foremen.
- →Create repair orders from company fleet drivers' reports and/or from external customer contacts.
- →Obtain information from the customer as to the requested or needed work.
- →Discuss repairs with the customer.
- →Record the appropriate information regarding unit/vehicle into computer system for work order.
- → Track customer rental trucks and give estimates on repairs needed.
- → Inform rental customer the state of the units.
- →Communicate work orders and observe workflow progress on shop to ensure work is completed to specified requirements in a timely manner.
- →Meet with shift foremen and fleet assistant to discuss work orders and areas of concern.
- →Assist with the interpretation of work orders and instructions to mechanics.
- →Works with parts specialist to insure parts are available when customer vehicles are ready for repair.
- →Order parts as need and act as Parts Specialist when needed.
- →Visually inspect the quality of the work being completed.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
- Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes and noise.
- Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases or other irritants
- Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
- Ability to move and position heavy objects
- Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair vehicles
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
