Baptist Health Princeton is looking for Medical Laboratory Technicians to join our Princeton team! The Medical Laboratory Technician analyzes blood and body fluids using both automated and complex manual methods following established policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of laboratory results within established timeframes.

Responsibilities

  • →Performs and reports routine laboratory testing following established policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of laboratory results within established timeframes.  
  • →Verifies results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.  
  • →Performs, evaluates, and documents all quality control, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.  
  • →Demonstrates computer system proficiency including ordering, resulting, and inquiry functions.  
  • →Ensures proper utilization and preparation of reagents and supplies.  
  • →Communicates critical results to the patient caregiver.  
  • →Regularly reports all unusual findings to the immediate supervisor.  
  • →Regularly reports work activities and pending work to the oncoming technologist. 
  • →Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. 
  • →Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies and procedures. 
  • →Assumes one or more of the following responsibilities under the supervision of the Medical Technologist or Team Leader: supply/reagent ordering or preparation, primary operator of minor instrumentation, projects, or teaching/training.  
  • →Performs specimen collection procedures, specimen receiving and processing as required.  
  • →Answers the telephone and greets guests to the department.  
  • →Maintains current job knowledge in order to effectively instruct students or other personnel.  
  • →Responsible for an active role in the laboratory quality improvement program including performance and evaluation of key quality indicators.  
  • →Follows the established policies and procedures to meet regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.  
  • →Practices infection control and safety practices and keeps a clean and organized work area.  
  • →Maintains confidentiality of patient record, hospital and departmental matters at all times.  
  • →Perform other duties as directed under supervision of Medical Technologist or Team Leader. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Requirements

  • Graduate from an approved school of medical laboratory technician.
  • Associate degree in related field.

 

  • Current license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician as required by the Alabama Department of Health.
  • Certified in area(s) of laboratory where assigned.
