Calspan is a premier supplier of jet engine test facilities. We are seeking a Director of Global Supply Chain to own and optimize our end-to-end global supply chain strategy—ensuring on time delivery, supplier excellence, and disciplined cost performance across complex, engineered projects. 

 

This role is a senior leadership position with significant autonomy and visibility, partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, Program Management, and Executive Leadership to protect schedules, mitigate global risk, drive cost reduction, and enable business growth. This leader will build out and integrate our separate Procurement and Subcontract Management functions into a cohesive, unified team operating under standardized processes. 

Responsibilities

Manage administrative responsibilities and assume full responsibility for the accomplishments of department functions.
  • On-Time Delivery  
    • Own material, assembly, and subcontract delivery performance across global programs
    • Implement agile supply chain processes aligned to project execution plans. 
    • Establish and manage KPIs related to schedule adherence, supplier OTIF performance, and quality. 
    • Lead recovery plans for late or at‑risk suppliers. 
  • Supplier Qualification & Performance Management
    • Develop and enforce a rigorous supplier qualification program to vet vendors for technical capability, financial stability, and quality assurance. 
    • Build strong, collaborative relationships with key strategic suppliers. 
    • Lead supplier performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Strategic Cost Savings
    • Drive strategic sourcing initiatives to identify cost reduction opportunities without compromising the quality, safety, or timeline of testing operations. 
    • Leverage data analytics and market intelligence to forecast pricing trends and secure competitive rates for materials and services. 
  • Contract Writing & Negotiation
    • Draft, review, and execute complex global contracts with: general contractors, A&E firms, services, and fabricators. 
    • Negotiate pricing, lead times, IP protections, risk allocation, and liability terms. 
    • Ensure contracts include enforceable service level agreements and penalties for non-compliance or delays 
  • Supply Chain Risk Mitigation
    • Proactively identify vulnerabilities within the global supply network, including geopolitical issues, material shortages, and logistical bottlenecks. 
    • Develop and execute robust contingency plans, dual-sourcing strategies, and safety stock protocols to insulate our operations from external disruptions. 

Requirements

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or Master’s degree is preferred. 
  • 10+ years of progressive supply chain leadership experience, with a minimum of 5 years in the aerospace, defense, or highly engineered manufacturing sectors. 

Preferred Knowledge / Abilities:

  • Exceptional contract drafting and negotiation skills.  
  • Proficiency with modern ERP systems (Costpoint) and supply chain analytics. 
  • Proven track record of building and managing a global supply chain to meet aggressive operational deadlines. 
  • Willingness to travel globally (10-20%).
