Our innovative and growing organization is searching for a motivated and compassionate candidate for the Ophthalmology Department. Our department is passionate about a lot of things like our patients, our team members, and of course eyes; they provide a window into the health of your body. We are looking to add a member to our group who has strong communication skills, is dependable, self-motivated, and responsible. This position provides onsite training along with offering several opportunities to grow personally and professionally. We also provide a great work life balance with our 8 hour day shifts.

 

The Ophthalmic Assistant is an unlicensed health professional who maintains department patient care supplies, ensures timely flow of patients, and assists physicians and nurses with patient screening, diagnostic testing, exams and in-office procedures. Demonstrates strong customer service skills and compassion and caring in dealing with others.

Responsibilities

  • Completes initial patient screening
  • Documents pertinent patient information in the EMR
  • Performs ophthalmic diagnostic testing using appropriate equipment and methods
  • Assists physicians and nursing staff with procedures using proper techniques
  • Assists nurses with patient communication through the EMR worklist
  • Maintains patient care environment and supplies to ensure privacy and safety
  • Gathers medical records and patient information
  • Performs visual acuity screening
  • Performs ophthalmic preliminary and diagnostic tests
  • Assists with in‑office procedures
  • Maintains and cleans ophthalmic instruments
  • Instills eye drops
  • Assists with patient scheduling
  • Assists with training of other ophthalmic assistants

The compensation range for this position is $19.03per hour - $30.83per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
