Fire Alarm Service Technician

As a Fire Alarm Service Technician, you will play a critical role in protecting lives, property, and mission-critical facilities by ensuring fire alarm and clean agent suppression systems operate safely and reliably. 

• →Perform scheduled inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance of fire alarm and Clean Agent Suppression systems. 

• →Test and verify the proper operation of:  

• →Fire alarm control panels 

• →Smoke and heat detectors 

• →Pull stations 

• →Notification appliances 

• →Monitoring equipment 

• →Clean Agent Suppression system components 

• →Conduct functional testing of initiating devices, control equipment, releasing systems, and notification devices in accordance with applicable codes and standards. 

• →Ensure systems remain compliant with customer requirements, NFPA standards, and local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) regulations. 

• →Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm and suppression system deficiencies and malfunctions. 

• →Identify root causes of system failures and implement effective corrective actions. 

• →Repair or replace defective system components, wiring, devices, and related equipment. 

• →Respond to service calls and emergency repair requests in a timely and professional manner. 

• →Support system upgrades, modifications, and technology enhancements as needed. 

• →Document inspections, testing, maintenance activities, deficiencies, and corrective actions. 

• →Prepare accurate service reports, inspection reports, and customer documentation. 

• →Maintain records in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and customer standards. 

• →Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to customers and management. 

• →Serve as a professional representative of the company while interacting with customers, facility personnel, contractors, and inspectors. 

• →Explain system deficiencies, maintenance recommendations, and repair options to customers. 

• →Review electrical and system layout drawings to support service and troubleshooting activities. 

• →Collaborate with installation teams, project managers, and operations personnel to resolve technical issues and support project objectives. 

• →Other duties as assigned. 

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required. 

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining fire alarm systems. 

• Experience working with commercial, industrial, institutional, or government fire alarm systems preferred. 

• Experience with Clean Agent Suppression Systems is highly desirable. 

• Certifications 

• Fire Alarm certification and/or Electrical certification required. 

• NICET certification preferred. 

• OSHA certification preferred. 

• Ability to read and interpret:  

• Electrical schematics 

• Wiring diagrams 

• Blueprints 

• Technical specifications 

• Strong understanding of fire alarm system components, operation, and troubleshooting procedures. 

• Basic and advanced math skills required. 

• Mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving abilities. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. 

• Knowledge of fire alarm and life safety system operation, inspection, testing, and maintenance. 

• Familiarity with Clean Agent Suppression Systems and related technologies. 

• Ability to identify and resolve technical issues effectively and efficiently. 

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. 

• Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor. 

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities. 

• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities. 

• Proficiency in documenting service activities and maintaining accurate records. 

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining individual accountability.
