The Production Supervisor bridges the gap between engineering, quoting, and production. This role is responsible for the production of high-quality wire harnesses, complex MIL-SPEC cable assemblies, and intricate electro-mechanical assemblies while ensuring strict adherence to IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC J-STD-001, and Customer standards. Beyond physical assembly, this individual analyzes customer drawings to generate labor and material estimates, authors manufacturing work instructions, establishes testing protocols, and ensures production consistency through the diligent use of calibrated equipment, calibration tracking databases, and proactive preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Estimating & Quoting: :Analyze customer requirements, blueprints, and technical specifications to calculate accurate labor times and material estimates for specialized MIL-SPEC cable assemblies, overmolding processes, military-standard connectors, splices, heat-shrink sleeving, and hardware accessories.
- →Production Support: Interpret complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings to troubleshoot issues and support day-to-day manufacturing operations.
- →Documentation & Work Instructions: Author, update, and validate clear, sequential Manufacturing Work Instructions and testing procedures.
- →Electro-Mechanical Assembly: Fabricate, modify, and terminate complex wire harnesses, custom MIL-SPEC cable assemblies, and full electro-mechanical chassis systems .
- →Equipment Maintenance & Calibration Tracking: Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and daily checks on critical production equipment. Track, log, and manage tool calibration cycles within the internal calibration database to ensure zero lapses in equipment certifications.
- →Soldering & Crimping: Perform high-precision hand soldering and mechanical crimping to Class 2 and Class 3 requirements.
- →Quality Standards: Maintain and verify compliance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Cable/Wire Harness Assemblies) and IPC J-STD-001 (Soldered Electrical Assemblies). Adherence to the requirements of AS9100:D and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Standards.
- →Testing & Inspection: Develop and execute automated test programs using high-voltage cable testers to perform continuity, isolation, HiPot, and insulation resistance testing. Conduct visual and manual checks utilizing calibrated inspection tools.

Requirements
~1 min read- Associate’s degree in an electronics field OR
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in electronics assembly/testing environment performing similar duties.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in wire harness fabrication, box builds, MIL-SPEC cable assemblies, and electro-mechanical assembly.
- Current or recent certifications in IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC J-STD-001.
- Successfully pass background and drug screening.
- Government contracting experience.
- Hands-on experience executing basic preventative maintenance schedules on electronic manufacturing machinery and hand tools.
- Practical experience with wire harness assembly, over molding processes, heat-shrink boots, potting compounds, wire splices (inline, stub, and environmental), heat-shrink sleeving, braided shielding, shield termination, and a wide array of MIL-SPEC connectors and accessories.
- Experienced in manufacturing software (MRP) or (SAP)
- Experience with reading and understanding technical drawings and Bills of Material
- Familiar or experienced in ISO9000 QMS or equivalent quality system.
- Demonstrated experience configuring, programming, and running automated test procedures on high-voltage cable testers (e.g., Cirris, CableEye, or Vitrek). Proven discipline in verifying equipment calibration cycles and maintaining logs in a digital database.
- Mastery of assembly tools including manual/pneumatic crimpers, wire strippers, soldering stations, heat guns, torque wrenches, high-voltage cable testing systems, multimeters, and calibrated inspection tools (calipers/micrometers.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and Bills of Material
- Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications to estimate material needs and production labor hours.
- Ability to write clear, structured production instructions using software like MS Word or Excel.
- Basic reading, visual inspection, and basic math skills
- Basic computer skills to include data entry and familiarization with the Microsoft Suite
