Decontaminate, clean, process, and sterilize supplies and equipment dispensed by the department, following infection control practices and guidelines.

Responsibilities

→Follows manufacturer instructions for use for steam and low temperature sterilization
→Follows manufacturer instructions for use for decontamination, disinfection of instruments, and flexible endoscopes according to department standards and industry guidelines
→Demonstrates knowledge of surgical instrument kits
→Demonstrates knowledge of how to properly inspect and assemble kits
→Adheres to hospital policies for CSR as well as follow AAMI guidelines (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instruments
→Performs equipment testing: Bowies and Biologicals, and reports any abnormal results to the supervisor
→Delivery of sterile instruments and kits in a timely manner, within 48 hours, to other departments within the hospital
→Maintains a clean work environment in accordance to regulator guidelines and hospital policy. Damp dusting horizontal surfaces, end of day cleaning, removal of trash and laundry
→Attends staff meetings and in services
→Stays up to date on departmental communication and required annual and periodical competencies
→Participates in orientation of new staff as needed
→Completes other daily tasks as requested and assigned
→Performs job specific requirements and other duties as assigned
→Answer the phone and take messages when needed
→Help with different reps that come in with trays or help with them taking trays out
→Help the OR when they are looking for a kit or instrument
