Responsibilities

  • →Utilizing positive reinforcement and antecedent manipulation to increase appropriate behaviors
  • →Assisting and supporting in the planning, implementation and documentation of programs designed to meet the social, emotional, physical and personal needs of adults served
  • →Accompanying residents on community outings, medical appointments and other activities, as directed by program management
  • →Must be willing to work with adults with challenging and/or aggressive behaviors 

 

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred
  • One (1) year of experience providing direct care to adults with developmental disabilities required
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • One weekend shift per week required
  • Direct Support Professional Year 1 Certification by the State of California
  • Direct Support Professional Year 2 Certification by the State of California
  • Registered Behavioral Technician Certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board

 

 

Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing required. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required when applying physical intervention techniques in excess of 100 lbs or more. Some repetitive wrist/hand movements. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to master Safe and Positive Approach trainings. 

 

 

Be empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, understand the theories of behavior management, utilize positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model. Additionally, you must be able to successfully pass required clearances, complete 40+ hours of paid new hire trainings, and have a strong passion for supporting individuals with special needs.

 

 

May require use of protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial masks, protective eye-wear, and gowns. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Some degree of physical involvement in exercise of Safe and Positive Approaches.
