Dewberry is currently seeking a Construction Project Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Dewberry Design Build in our Raleigh, NC office. The selected candidate will become part of a growing team that provides a full range of construction services. In this position, the selected candidate will earn experience moving construction projects through all phases from concept to completion and will receive direct mentoring from seasoned construction managers. Responsibilities

  • →Work closely with project manager and project team leaders to assist in the development, execution, and monitoring of project plans, purchasing activities, submittal reviews, and project schedules.
  • Currently pursuing a B.S. in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

  • Interest and passion for optimizing buildings and the construction industry.

  • Previous construction internship experience is a plus.

  • Solution based problem solver.

  • Ability to work with and grow in a team environment

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint, AutoCAD or MicroStation

  • Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.

  • Ability to repetitively stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition to ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surface

During the summer intern program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full-time employee. 

  

Our interns get the opportunity to participate in a series of workshops and events, including: 

  • Networking opportunities to meet other interns, staff, and senior leaders across the business. 
  • Learning about our services, projects, and clients. 
  • Professional development workshops, including a career planning workshop and a DiSC assessment to learn more about themselves and how to work effectively with others. 
  • Summer-long group project where interns work alongside firm leaders to address issues that will impact our future strategy.
