Requirements

As part of your apprenticeship, you will work towards achieving a Level 3 Safety, Health and Environment Technician qualification, which is equivalent to A-Levels. This nationally recognised qualification will equip you with the essential skills and knowledge to advise on statutory health, safety, and environmental requirements, conduct risk assessments, support incident investigations, and deliver health and safety training. Upon successful completion, you will be eligible to join the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) at TechIOSH level and further your career in health and safety.
- No formal qualifications required-this is an apprenticeship role
- Any prior experience or qualifications in health and safety, science, or related fields are beneficial but not essential
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Assist in undertaking health and safety audits and inspections on site
- →Support the monitoring and review of protective and preventative measures, and help plan and implement these measures
- →Participate in conducting risk assessments and developing Safe Working Practices (SWPs)
- →Work alongside production teams to roll out SWPs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- →Take a proactive approach to health and safety, aiming to reduce accidents and near misses
- →Assist in writing and delivering team briefs and Task Observation Behavioural Evaluation Reports
- →Support general health and safety reporting and awareness-raising activities
- →Liaise with department managers to promote health and safety best practices
- →Assist with health and safety investigations and the collation of information
- →Help organise site training, such as accident investigation and manual handling sessions
- →Support the development of the health and safety management system and continuous improvement initiatives
- →Complete COSHH assessments and assist with chemical handling and storage requirements
- →Support occupational health programmes and monitor site health and safety KPI targets
- →Maintain a continuous improvement mindset and attend relevant training to support your professional development
- A strong interest in health and safety, with a desire to learn and develop
- Highly motivated, ambitious, and commercially minded
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
- An understanding of continuous improvement principles
- Excellent time management and attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team with a professional, enthusiastic attitude
- Right to work in the UK
