Sr R&D Test Engineer -Python l Sql l GIS

 

As a Sr R&D Test Engineer II, you will contribute to the validation and quality assurance of HERE's HD Map and related geospatial solutions. You'll work closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to execute test strategies, analyze geospatial datasets, and support both manual and automated testing initiatives. This role offers an excellent opportunity to deepen your expertise in software testing, location technologies, and data validation while making a measurable impact on products used worldwide.You will have the opportunity to:

• Execute functional, regression, and product-level validation activities for HERE's HD Map and Base Map solutions.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and QA teams to understand requirements, define test scenarios, and validate product quality.
• Develop, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, and test datasets that support comprehensive product validation.
• Support manual testing activities and contribute to the continuous adoption of test automation capabilities.
• Investigate, document, and track defects using quality management and issue-tracking tools.
• Validate geospatial data pipelines and datasets, including data ingestion, transformation, and output verification activities.
• Analyze test results, identify inconsistencies, recommend improvements, and help strengthen testing processes and quality practices.

 

 

You are a detail-oriented problem solver who enjoys learning new technologies and collaborating with others to deliver high-quality results. You are passionate about software quality and excited by the opportunity to work with large-scale geospatial and HD Map systems. To be successful in this role, it would be ideal if you bring:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Approximately 3 to 6 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or a related discipline.
• Working knowledge of Python for scripting, coding logic ,test development, or automation support.
• Experience with manual testing methodologies and exposure to test automation concepts.
• Experience with SQL,query writing and data validation techniques.
• Understanding of SDLC, Agile development practices, and quality engineering principles.
• Experience working with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills within global and cross-functional teams.
• Interest in geospatial technologies, HD Maps, GIS concepts, or related location-based systems.

Exposure to tools such as GitLab, ArcGIS,QGIS, HERE mapping tools, or industry-recognized software testing certifications may help accelerate your success in the role.

As part of HERE’s AD 2.0 evolution, this role contributes to next-generation product testing by supporting validation of Base map & HD map products. You will assist in ensuring that products meet defined specifications and customer expectations through structured, data-driven testing approaches.
