Software Engineer Level 2 (Python)

As a Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development, maintenance, and transition of the business aviation flight tracking and data services. This position is designed for individuals with a solid understanding of data analytics, 4D, high performance computing, kinematics, spatial analysis and processing in Linux-based systems. You will work within a highly agile team to contribute to the ongoing success of our flight surveillance and green aviation systems, utilizing coding and development skills in Python to extend and transition legacy systems. 

• →Help design, build, and improve features across the platform
• →Work closely with engineers, product, design, and infrastructure teams to deliver high‑quality solutions
• →Contribute across the full software development lifecycle within an Agile (Scrum) team
• →Support sprint planning and delivery in line with the product roadmap
• →Investigate, fix, and prevent software defects, supported by unit testing
• →Create clear documentation and contribute to team best practices
• →Work independently on assigned tasks while seeking guidance when needed

• 4+ years’ commercial software development experience, including 3+ years with Python
• Experience building and maintaining web‑based applications using Python plus technologies like JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML & CSS
• Exposure to cloud‑native development and CI/CD pipelines (ideally AWS, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Good knowledge of Git, code reviews, and Agile (Scrum) ways of working
• Familiarity with application security concepts (e.g. OWASP) and relational databases (e.g. MySQL, Postgres)
• Clear communicator who enjoys collaborating, learning, and contributing to team best practices
• Minimum 1st year university maths and/or physics skills
• Relevant Computer Science or Engineering degree

• Perl Experience
• Data Science qualifications
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
• Cybersecurity certifications, e.g. CEH
• Experience with Gherkin/Cucumber
