The MRI Technologist operates magnetic resonance imaging equipment to perform high-quality diagnostic examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols. This role ensures patient safety, maintains accurate imaging documentation, and collaborates with radiologists and clinical staff to support timely and accurate diagnoses.

  • Ensuring accurate and complete documentation within RIS and PACS systems.

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • →Perform diagnostic MRI examinations of organs, organ systems, vascular structures, and blood flow studies according to physician orders and imaging protocols.
  • →Operate MRI equipment safely and efficiently to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
  • →Ensure accurate patient identification, screening, positioning, and preparation prior to imaging procedures.
  • →Enter and maintain accurate patient and exam information within RIS and PACS systems.
  • →Monitor patients throughout MRI procedures and respond appropriately to patient needs and safety concerns.
  • →Collaborate with radiologists to provide images necessary for accurate interpretation and diagnosis.
  • →Adhere to MRI safety guidelines and ensure compliance with department and regulatory standards.
  • →Educate and orient physicians, residents, staff, students, and technologists regarding MRI procedures, applications, and safety practices.
  • →Assist nursing staff with departmental workflows, including medication waste witnessing and documentation in Pyxis as required.
  • →Troubleshoot equipment and workflow issues while maintaining efficient patient throughput and exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • Completion of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program or equivalent accredited educational program.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of MRI experience required; documented clinical internship experience within an accredited MRI training program may be considered toward this requirement.
  • Experience operating GE MRI equipment.
  • Knowledge of MRI safety standards, imaging procedures, and patient screening requirements.
  • Ability to perform weekend shifts as scheduled.

 

  • Experience working within an academic medical center.
  • Prior experience using Epic, RIS, and PACS systems.
  • Experience performing advanced MRI studies, including vascular and specialty imaging procedures.
  • Previous experience training or mentoring students and technologists.
  • Strong patient service and communication skills.
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations.
