Overview Reporting to the Supervisor, Data Warehouse, the Data Warehouse Programmer develops and maintains data warehouses and/or analytic reporting solutions.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Data Warehouse, the Data Warehouse Programmer develops and maintains data warehouses and/or analytic reporting solutions. The position works closely with business users to meet query and/or report requests. As a member of a project team, the Programmer produces deliverables specific to the development phase.
The Data Warehouse Programmer must complete the Programmer Training over a maximum 24-month period to progress to the Programmer/Analyst classification.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Develop and maintain reports, dashboards and analytics, in accordance with established criteria and standards, using provided design, customer requirements and documents.
- →Develop SQL queries.
- →Assist with SQL queries, reports and dashboards review and testing processes.
- →Assist with preparing operational documentation for systems users and support teams.
- →Prepare documentation according to established departmental and divisional standards.
- →Contribute to team effort by accomplishing assigned tasks.
- →Coordinate change and implementation activities in accordance with established criteria and standards.
- →Create program design specifications in accordance with established criteria and standards.
- →Ensure data integrity, consistency, and adherence to data standards.
- →Participate in and conduct peer code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, design patterns, and data governance practices.
- →Collaborate with Programmer/Analyst and Analyst in design process for new report and dashboard requests.
- →Implement and document reports and dashboards.
- →Create conceptual design documents for enhancements and work items.
- →Attend training courses as required.
- →Perform other duties as required.
Requirements

- Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics or related field.
- Data warehouse related certificates are an asset.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of the insurance domain is an asset, including concepts such as:o Policies, premiums, claims, underwriting, billing, or actuarial data.o Regulatory or compliance-driven reporting.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
- Knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data lifecycle management.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., MS Fabric, or similar) is an asset.
- Experience working across development, test, and production environments.
- Experience in Agile / Scrum delivery environments.
- Experience using Azure DevOps for source control, work tracking, and CI/CD pipeline, or similar.
- Knowledge of data quality, data governance, or metadata management practices.Experience participating in or leading peer review processes (e.g., pull requests, design reviews).
- Uses or learns Business Intelligence tools e.g. Business Objects, Power BI, Report Builder etc.
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships and communications with supervisors, employees and internal customers.
- Communicates effectively, orally and in writing to convey technical information in a clear, concise and understandable manner for both technical and non-technical audiences.
