- BCIT Nephrology Program:

- Online Pre-Requisite courses by distance: April 6 – May 21, 2027 (7 wks)
- Classroom/clinical: May 25 – June 25, 2027 (5 wks)
- Preceptorship: June 28 – July 9, 2027 (2 wks)
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- If the applicant does not possess the required qualifications, PHC will fund Post-Basic Education.
- Funding will consist of 100% for tuition and books; and wages at rate of 100% of posted FTE.
- The length of the Post-Basic Education is approximate. Eligibility for Post-Basic Education is restricted to applicant(s) with a minimum of 1-2 year medical/surgical experience (2 years preferred) and who have not received Post-Basic Education Funding from PHC for the past 2 years. Applicant must successfully complete the Post-Basic Education prior to working in the Department.

What We Offer
~1 min read- Conduct thorough patient/resident assessments through chart reviews, observations, interviews, and collaboration with peers
- Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans based on evidence-based practices, prioritizing patient/resident needs
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, and PHC standards while providing high-quality nursing care
- Monitor patient/resident progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust care plans as needed for optimal results
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, care plans, patient/resident status, and discharge plans using manual and computerized systems
- Identify and address patient/resident and family learning needs, providing education and referrals as necessary
- Provide direction to staff, promote teamwork, and share clinical knowledge to enhance patient care
- Support nursing research initiatives and contribute to the improvement of patient/resident care policies and procedures
- Advocate for patients/residents' rights and dignity, facilitate discharge plans, and collaborate with families and community resources
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the healthcare team.
