Assistant Safety Manager

• Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA requirements and other applicable regulations.
• Support and monitor compliance with NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements.
• Support the administration and continuous improvement of company safety programs and initiatives.
• Maintain safety records, reports, and documentation to support compliance and operational requirements.
• Participate in the development and implementation of safety-related improvement initiatives.

• Conduct regular job-site inspections, audits, and assessments to identify potential hazards and verify compliance with safety standards.
• Monitor workplace conditions and recommend corrective actions to address identified risks.
• Assist with incident, accident, and near-miss investigations to determine root causes and support preventive measures.
• Prepare and maintain investigation reports and related documentation.

• Collaborate with supervisors, team leads, and employees to promote safe work practices and continuous improvement in workplace safety.
• Support safety education efforts and reinforce compliance through coaching and communication.
• Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to the development of safety awareness programs and initiatives.
• Help foster a culture of accountability and employee engagement in safety practices.

• Assist in developing and maintaining emergency response plans and procedures.
• Support and coordinate emergency drills and preparedness activities.
• Monitor the use, availability, and compliance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Help ensure adherence to applicable safety regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies.

• Stay informed of changes in safety regulations, industry trends, and best practices.
• Support the organization in adapting safety programs and procedures to meet evolving requirements.
• Provide recommendations that enhance workplace safety, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
• Support vehicle safety initiatives and driver qualification programs.

• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable safety standards.
• Strong ability to identify workplace hazards and recommend effective corrective actions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to conduct inspections, audits, incident investigations, and safety assessments.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Commitment to promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 70E, National Electrical Code (NEC), and electrical construction best practices.
• Experience conducting hazard analyses and reviewing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) or Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs).

• Experience supporting safety programs and compliance initiatives within a regulated work environment.
• Demonstrated ability to identify hazards, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions.
• Success maintaining safety records, reports, and compliance documentation.
• Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits, and safety evaluations.
• Effective collaboration with supervisors, employees, and safety committees to improve safety performance.
• Safety certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR, or similar credentials are beneficial.
• Ability to effectively communicate and promote safety expectations across diverse teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• Demonstrated experience in a progressive safety-related role, preferably within the electrical contracting, construction, or related industries.
• Experience supporting safety programs in a union environment preferred.
• Preferred Certifications and Trainings
• BCSP certification(s)
• CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician)
• NFPA 70E
• OSHA 510 or working to OSHA 500
• First Aid/CPR/AED
