We are currently looking for an E&S Manager with hands-on field experience from wind projects. You are commercially savvy and have an understanding for problem solving vs problem finding. You will help us ensure that all Scatec projects deliver on their commitments and obligations in relation to environmental and social aspects. The position will predominantly focus on wind projects, but also a number of other renewable project developments in Romania.
As E&S Manager you will lead all project workstreams in compliance with IFC and EBRD E&S safeguarding standards, other lender requirements, local law and regulations and Scatec policies. This position involves identifying, mitigating, and managing environmental and social risks and impacts including labor and working conditions.
As our E&S Manager, you will be required to drive the projects’ E&S workstream in cross disciplinary teams through the project life cycle and making sure that potential E&S impacts and risks are being accounted for. In doing so, you will interact proactively and engage with all types of stakeholders, spanning from local communities and respective authorities to international consultants, lenders and the Company’s business partners and internal business unit teams.
The position will be based in Bucharest with frequent site visits required. You will report to the country E&S Manager in Romania and be part of the global E&S function in Scatec.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Help ensure project compliance with the Company’s Sustainability Policy, Code of Conduct, EBRD Performance Requirements, Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards and lead dialogue with project lenders with respect to E&S discipline matters.
- →Lead Environmental and Social Due Diligence Assessments, Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) and executing on Environmental and Social Action Plans (ESAPs).
- →Develop and ensure implementation of Environmental and Social management systems (ESMS) for projects, in collaboration with relevant project teams and contractors.
- →Scope and manage E&S technical requirements in selection of environmental service contractors as per local environmental requirements and supervise compliance of contractors and subcontractors.
- →Manage workstreams within the overall Project timeline, budget and risk framework, in close coordination of the other functions involved in the development and construction of the Project.
- →Perform site visits and participate in meetings with partners, as well as local and country authorities as required.
- →Prepare presentation material and occasionally represent in internal and external forums.
Requirements
~1 min read- Minimum 5 years of work experience with environmental and social risk management in renewable energy projects, the majority of which being wind energy projects.
- Site implementation experience from renewable projects and/or consultancy services, in accordance with IFC Performance Standards.
- Experience in project management, including working with stakeholders at all levels
- Knowledge and practical implementation experience of international environmental and social standards including the EBRD Performance Requirements, Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards
- Experience in handling of project related social conflicts, land acquisition and livelihood restoration processes is an asset
- Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative
