Berry Street Yooralla is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Payroll Officer to join our team and deliver accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services across a complex, high-volume environment.

Hybrid role: Melbourne Office on Wurundjeri Country
Full Time, Fixed term (12 months)
Competitive Salary + Super and Salary packing
Occasional travel to other offices across Victoria.
 
As a Senior Payroll Officer, you will manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, Awards, and Enterprise Agreements. You’ll also play a key role in supporting employees with payroll queries and contributing to continuous improvement of payroll systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Process accurate, end-to-end payroll in line with deadlines and compliance requirements
  • Apply Awards and Enterprise Agreements to ensure correct pay and entitlements
  • Maintain payroll data, including employee records, leave, and salary packaging
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies quickly and accurately
  • Support employees with clear, responsive payroll advice and queries
  • Contribute to improving payroll processes and system efficiency

You are an experienced payroll professional with a strong commitment to accuracy, compliance, and service.
 
You will have:
  • Demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end payroll in medium to large organisations
  • Strong knowledge of Awards, Enterprise Agreements, and payroll legislation
  • Experience with payroll and workforce systems (e.g. Ascender, Kronos or similar)
  • Advanced attention to detail and ability to resolve complex payroll issues
  • Strong Excel and data management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, work to deadlines, and remain calm under pressure
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
