We are seeking an experienced SAP Workflow Specialist to support a large-scale ERP modernization initiative within a highly regulated federal environment. This role is responsible for designing, configuring, and optimizing automated business processes within an SAP S/4HANA landscape, with a focus on transitioning from legacy workflow frameworks to modern Flexible Workflow capabilities.
This is a 75% remote position with approximately 25% quarterly travel to the Washington, DC metro area.
Per our Federal Government Contract, candidates must be U.S. Citizens with an Active Secret Clearance.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Lead the design, configuration, and governance of SAP Flexible Workflow solutions across key business process areas (e.g., finance, procurement, order management, HR)
- →Configure multi-step approval workflows, including parallel approvals, agent determination, and deadline monitoring
- →Utilize BRFplus to define and maintain complex workflow routing logic based on business rules and organizational hierarchies
- →Manage agent determination using role-based assignments, responsibilities, and custom enhancements (BAdIs)
- →Optimize the SAP Fiori My Inbox application to provide a streamlined and intuitive task management experience
- →Extend standard workflow functionality using S/4HANA extensibility frameworks and custom condition logic
- →Support coexistence and migration from legacy SAP Business Workflow (WF-BATCH) to Flexible Workflow
- →Troubleshoot workflow issues using tools such as SWI1, SWIA, and workflow logs to resolve errors and bottlenecks
- →Ensure workflows meet audit and compliance requirements by maintaining complete approval traceability and supporting internal controls
- →Partner with functional teams to lead “fit-to-standard” discussions and recommend best practices to reduce customization
- →Monitor workflow performance and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce cycle times
Requirements
~1 min read- U.S. Citizenship required with an Active Secret Clearance or higher
- 5+ years of experience with SAP Workflow, including both S/4HANA Flexible Workflow and SAP Business Workflow
- Strong proficiency in BRFplus, including decision tables and workflow routing logic
- Experience with SAP Fiori and OData services, particularly related to My Inbox and workflow integration
- Working knowledge of ABAP (object-oriented) for developing custom enhancements (e.g., BAdIs, conditions)
- Hands-on experience with workflow configuration and administration tools (e.g., SWDD, PFTC, SWU3)
- Strong understanding of business process controls, approvals, and segregation of duties (SoD)
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into technical workflow designs
- Experience working in a federal or highly regulated environment preferred
- Familiarity with compliance and audit requirements is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- W2 Hourly rate starts at $70.54. Pay rates are based on experience and qualifications, and are subject to change at any time.
