Here at Thorpe Park our 2026 season is in full swing, and we are recruiting for a Senior Creative Technician (scenic and carpentry specialist) to join our epic operational technical services team!
As a Senior Creative Technician at Thorpe Park, you will be right at the heart of creating unforgettable guest experiences. From immersive theming and scenic builds to installations and live activity support, you will help bring bold creative ideas to life across the park. Working closely with the Venue Production Supervisor and creative teams, you will combine hands-on technical skill with a strong eye for safety, quality and detail.
The Senior Creative Technician will take the lead on COSHH processes within the department, ensuring hazardous substances are properly assessed, recorded and used in line with legislation and best practice. You’ll help champion safe working by implementing and monitoring PPE requirements, carrying out regular safety inspections and supporting internal and external audits. Your input will be key in maintaining a safe, compliant and well-organised creative working environment.
Alongside compliance and governance, you’ll be an active scenic technician on the ground, contributing to builds, finishes, dressing, installations and maintenance projects across the park. You will also help look after departmental tools, materials and equipment, ensuring everything is stored correctly, maintained to a high standard and ready for action. By supporting incident reporting and continuous improvement, you’ll play an important role in balancing creative ambition with smart, practical delivery in a busy, live theme park setting.
Requirements
~1 min read- Strong knowledge of COSHH, PPE and health and safety best practice is essential
- Experience working with materials such as latex, silicone, jesmonite and 2-part polyurethane expanding foam is essential
- Experience supporting audits, inspections and compliance in a technical or production environment
- Proven hands-on scenic and carpentry skills, including fibreglassing, mould making and 3D fabrication
- Comfortable working on-site in live, fast-paced environments
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Clear, confident communicator able to work across creative, technical and operational teams
- Practical, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to adapt to changing project demands
- Experience in theme park production, live events, immersive experiences or themed environments
- Understanding of show control systems
- Experience using project management or compliance tools (e.g. Monday.com, Asana or similar)
- Cherry picker licence and UK driving licence preferred
- Previous duty manager experience in a theme park setting is advantageous
