The Staff Assistant II provides administrative support to the Utah Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Cooperative Research Unit, serves as Office Coordinator for the Wildland Resources Department, and functions as Building Coordinator for the Natural Resources building.
Responsibilities

- The staff assistant performs a variety of administrative support duties in support of the Coop Unit leaders and staff. Typical functions include but are not limited to:
- Performs office coordination duties, including scheduling, filing, preparing paperwork, ordering supplies, and/or managing inventories
- Seeks ways to improve efficiency of services and develops processes to streamline procedures
- Maintains and creates Digital Measures content
- Submits and tracks unit business transactions
- Writes, edits, and coordinates the development of promotional materials, educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, and/or brochures
- Coordinates Unit activities, conferences and events
- Trains and guides student employees
- Provides training, instruction, and/or consultation to students, faculty, and/or staff in the use of specialized services
- Submits monthly budget reports to federal headquarters
- Schedules and coordinate meetings, events, interviews, appointments and other similar activities
- Represents the Coop in a positive manner with students, staff, faculty, and the community
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
The staff assistant performs a variety of administrative support duties to maintain a high-functioning Wildland Resources Department office, and provides oversight and stewardship of the Natural Resources Building. Typical functions include but are not limited to:
- Coordinates/schedules NR atrium and patio use
- Responds to building issues as they arise;
- Issues building related announcements to faculty and staff
- Liaison to Fire Marshall; Safety Officer
- Organizes building, office, and lab access by preparing key requests for faculty, staff, and students
- Coordinates and tracks users of WILD and COOP fleet vehicles; compiles and documents trip reports; issues keys to vehicles as appropriate
- Maintains WILD tagged equipment inventory records and submits annual reports
- Maintains NR 206 office copier, office & clerical supplies
- Organizes and distributes WILD faculty and staff mail, packages
- Assists with WILD department events & functions
- Represents the WILD department in a positive manner with students, staff, faculty, and the community
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
~1 min read- Two years of experience in an office setting or an associate degree/vocational training is required.
- Bachelor’s degree; education or prior experience in a natural resources discipline
- Skilled with computers and related software.
- Skilled with basic office equipment, including printers, copiers, and telephone systems.
- Good organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential business data and personal information.
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills.
