Our Veterinary Assistants are an important part of delivering the high standard of medicine and compassionate care our patients and clients deserve. You’ll work closely with our veterinarians and LVTs while contributing throughout the patient experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Triage patients and obtain thorough medical histories, vital signs, and patient assessments
- Assist veterinarians and LVTs during exams, treatments, and procedures
- Provide compassionate patient care from intake through discharge
- Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
- Safely restrain patients to assist LVTs and doctors with procedures and sample collection
- Help collect and prepare samples for CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, cytology, fecal testing, and other laboratory work
- Support surgical and dental procedures, including preparation, monitoring, recovery, and instrument care
- Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs during procedures and maintain accurate records
- Provide patient monitoring and supportive care, including TPRs, pain scoring, and wound care
- Practice Fear Free and low-stress handling techniques
- Educate clients about patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventive care
- Maintain accurate and concise medical records and patient charts
- Keep treatment and exam areas clean, organized, stocked, and compliant with infection-control protocols
- Collaborate with the entire veterinary team to maintain an efficient workflow and positive hospital culture
- Participate in ongoing training and growth opportunities
- Jump in where needed to support the hospital and your teammates
We’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant who can combine strong technical skills with compassionate communication, organization, reliability, and a team-first attitude.
Your skill set should include:
- Safe and effective patient handling and restraint
- Knowledge of preventive care and vaccines
- Experience with anesthesia monitoring
- Experience assisting with surgical procedures and patient nursing care
- Ability to accurately triage patients and obtain thorough medical histories
- Understanding of pharmacology and medication administration
- Strong patient handling skills with an emphasis on low-stress or Fear Free techniques
- Professional and compassionate communication with clients and teammates
- Clear and concise documentation of patient care and client interactions
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced veterinary environment
- Time-management and organizational skills
- A collaborative, team-first mindset and willingness to jump in where needed
- Reliability and a positive attitude
