The Inventory Control Specialist maintains accurate stock records, manages inventory levels to prevent shortages or overages, and oversees the physical organization of goods in the warehouse. Key responsibilities include performing cycle counts, reconciling inventory data in warehouse management systems (WMS), auditing incoming/outgoing shipments, managing inventory placement in the warehouse and identifying damaged or obsolete stock for disposition.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Inventory Accuracy: Conduct daily, weekly, or monthly cycle counts and physical inventory counts to ensure system accuracy (KPI = 98.5% Accurate). Alert management to potential inventory issues and propose corrective action plans.
- →Data Management: Accurately enter and update inventory data (receiving, shipments, adjustments) into the inventory system or ERP. Keep records of invbenmtory issues and actions.
- →Stock Organization: Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of inventory (FIFO/LIFO) to maintain organization and accessibility. Manage inventory placement in the FC for efficient picking and storage. Consolidate sku’s where needed to free up space.
- →Reporting & Analysis: Monitor inventory reports to identify discrepancies, shrinkage, or slow-moving items, and report findings to management.
- →Process Improvement: Develop or refine procedures to optimize warehouse efficiency and safety.
- →Other: Other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
~1 min read- Education: HS Diploma or GED
- Experience: 3-5+ years in inventory control roles
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and/or ERP software.
- Abilities: Strong mathematical skills, attention to detail, analytical skills for discrepancy investigation, and communication skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, walk, and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Extremely organized and detail oriented.
- High mathematical ability
- Strong problem-solver with a self-motivated work ethic.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, sometimes, noisy warehouse environment.
