TITLE: Business Services Consultant

REPORTS TO: Project Director

LOCATION: San Luis Obispo County, CA

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Employee

Career TEAM is looking to hire a Business Services Consultant who is responsible for cultivating strategic relationships with local businesses and community partners to proactively identify job opportunities and workforce needs, ultimately supporting the training, placement, and success of career seekers.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between employers, workforce partners, and the AJCC system for Rapid Response and Layoff Aversion activities
  • Coordinate and deliver Rapid Response orientations and information sessions for impacted workers
  • Engage employers proactively to identify potential layoffs and provide workforce solutions to prevent or minimize job loss
  • Collaborate with Career Advisors to ensure seamless enrollment of affected workers into WIOA services
  • Provide information on unemployment insurance, training opportunities, supportive services, and job placement assistance
  • Maintain strong relationships with local employers, industry groups, labor representatives, and economic development partners
  • Coordinate on-site and virtual Rapid Response events in partnership with SLO WDB and required partners
  • Participate in assigned American Job Center activities
  • Track and document all Rapid Response activities, employer contacts, and participant engagement in required systems
  • Support dislocated workers in transitioning to new employment opportunities through referrals, workshops, and direct services
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with WIOA, state, and local Rapid Response requirements
  • Organize and participate in hiring events
  • Assist with reporting, data collection, and documentation related to services
  • Work with program staff to align efforts with business services, training opportunities, and sector strategies
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of employer engagement and participant outcomes
  • Approach each day and task with a solutions-oriented and responsive mindset
  • Other duties and projects as needed

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment - must have excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Astounding ability to multitask and be proactive
  • Effective visual and verbal presentation skills
  • Ability to work with colleagues and partners showing courteousness and a high level of professionalism
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the local business community, in-demand occupations, and current workforce development programs, including WIOA
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with the capacity to establish, maintain, and grow strategic partnerships with employers, community leaders, and industry groups
  • Proven ability to conduct effective business needs assessments and develop customized workforce solutions for employers, such as On-the-Job Training and Subsidized Employment
  • Approach each day and task with a solutions-oriented and responsive mindset
  • A Valid Diver’s License

Salary: $52,000 - $54,500

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Career TEAM offers a competitive benefits package including healthcare, dental, and personal/vacation time.

Travel: Travel for this role is primarily limited to necessary trips within San Luis Obispo County to support community business engagement
