Central Presbyterian Church is seeking a female Youth Coordinator whose ministry will primarily focus on adolescent girls within the church. The Youth Coordinator’s core responsibility is to oversee the spiritual growth and pastoral care of the middle school and high school students within the Central community. The Youth Coordinator is expected to encourage students to grow in their knowledge and experience of Christ’s love and demonstrate how to live their lives in grateful response to his grace. Candidates for this position must demonstrate an enthusiastic desire to serve in youth ministry as well as a commitment to the vision and values of Central. This role requires initiative to develop and expand Central’s youth ministry program.
Qualifications Required
- A female with an evangelistic heart and a passion for sharing the gospel with others
- Professional experience working with students in a Christian ministry context
- A strong work ethic and an ability to carry out the responsibilities of the position
- An understanding of and commitment to the basic convictions of reformed theology as expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms
- An understanding of and commitment to the vision, values, and philosophy of ministry of Central
- An ability to effectively apply a Christ-centered approach to Scripture and teach students at various developmental levels using it
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and well-developed event planning skills
- Ability to recruit and develop a team of student leaders and volunteers
Job Description
The Youth Coordinator will report to the Executive Director. This is a full-time role with benefits and has an expected work week of Sunday through Thursday. This role is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Program Oversight
- Help oversee all middle school and high school programs, curricula, games, events, retreats, camp experiences, and service opportunities.
- Help develop a three-year plan for the ministry to adolescent girls.
- Collaborate with the youth team on the planning, organizing, and leading of each of the following for middle and high school students:
- Weekly youth group meetings
- Bi-monthly event, activity, or service opportunity
- Semi-annual retreat
- Annual camp experience in partnership with FOCUS, RYM (Reformed Youth Ministries), and/or Young Life
- Help lead an annual Communicants Class for middle school students.
- Identify, recruit, train, and evaluate a group of student leaders to assist with the ministry through a Student Leadership Team.
- Train and equip students to develop a biblical worldview by introducing the students to basic apologetics and relational evangelism.
- Administer the youth ministry budget effectively.
- Manage youth ministry space, furniture, equipment, and supplies to ensure safety and cleanliness.
Community Building
- Foster meaningful relationships with youth group students
- Identify, recruit, and train youth ministry volunteers
- Seek new opportunities to draw in new students and families from the neighborhood.
- Develop relationships and creative partnerships with partner ministries such as FOCUS, RYM (Reformed Youth Ministries), and Young Life.
Relationships and Communications
- Pursue, mentor, and build relationships with students through at least 8 one-to-one, one-to-two, or small group meetings per week.
- Attend at least 1 student sporting event or extra-curricular activity per week.
- Pray regularly with and for students and their families.
- Provide pastoral care to students and their families during times of urgent need, crisis, or bereavement.
- Welcome new students with a priority on evangelism and pursuing those who are new to the church.
- Equip parents for the spiritual nurture of their children.
- Participate actively in the life and mission of Central.
- Build trusting relationships with students and their families in order to bring them into the fold of church community.
- Communicate and create opportunities for students to serve the church and the wider community.
- Help manage the youth ministry events calendar and coordinate scheduling.
- Provide clear, accurate, and timely communication with students, parents, and volunteers in close collaboration with the Communications team.
- Promote youth ministry programs through regular email campaigns, media content development, and personal communication in close collaboration with the Communications team.
