The primary function of the Blended Learning Advisor is to provide expert support to build stakeholder capacity around blended learning, digital tools and platforms, research-based strategies, best practices, as well as solve complex problems, monitor school performance data, and ensure adherence to districtwide implementation of blended learning instruction. While the focus of this role will be on blended learning, the Advisor will know and understand the structure and purpose of standards-aligned curriculum and be able to articulate conditions necessary for the implementation of blended learning.

1.Provides leadership in monitoring and implementing blended learning, district-approved digital tools, and technology resources to support in meeting the identified needs of all stakeholders.

 

2.Possesses a depth of knowledge around digital tools, blended learning, 1:1 device utilization, Tennessee Standards and aligned curricular materials to enhance the infusion of technology in daily instruction and continuously engages in professional learning to remain up to date with blended learning and digital tools.

 

3.Works collaboratively as a change agent with all stakeholders to identify complex problems and school improvement priorities and develop strategies to improve performance.

 

4.Serves as an expert in blended learning to support all stakeholders on K-12 digital strategies, research- based assessment techniques, and makes recommendations pertaining thereto.

 

5.Supports the design and facilitation of district and school based professional development on blended learning, digital tools, software application related instructional practices.

 

6.Participates in regular, informal walkthroughs of schools across MSCS. The data collected will monitor the progress of blended learning implementation, inform professional learning sessions, and identify any bright spots or opportunities for growth that need to be escalated and/or addressed.

 

7.Uses data, including informal classroom observations and school leader feedback, to identify priorities and aligned supports for teachers. This includes planning, designing and facilitating professional learning both in-person and virtual.

 

8.Uses school, zone, and district level data to identify priorities and aligned supports needed.

 

9.Analyzes state and district assessment data to help target professional development needs; designs, plans and implements school and individual-level professional development opportunities addressing digital content, instructional methods, and assessment in the classroom.

 

10.Assists school teams in the development of long-term technology blended learning, and 1:1 device utilization plans.

 

11.Manages a caseload of teachers, providing ongoing feedback on teacher participation and outcomes related to the implementation of blended learning and use of 1:1 student devices in the classroom setting.

 

12.Develops and maintains relationships with school leaders, teachers, ambassadors, parents and other stakeholders. Keeps abreast and communicates instructional best practices to provide maximum teacher effectiveness.

 

13.Maintains accurate records and other documentation as requested by the Blended Learning Director, Assistant Superintendent of Professional Learning and Support, and others as appropriate.

 

14.Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

 

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Technology Instructional Design, Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field plus a minimum of five  (5) years experience related to the area of assignment. Evidence of ongoing professional learning and professional development facilitation. Professional experience as a teacher preferred. Two years of coaching experience is recommended.

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree=6 years plus required years of experience.
