Specialty Inpatient Registered Nurse

• →Perform inpatient and critical-care nursing services.
• →Conduct patient assessments and develop appropriate nursing plans of care.
• →Administer medications and IV therapies.
• →Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms.
• →Operate defibrillators, EKG machines, cardiac monitors and other emergency equipment.
• →Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate emergency interventions.
• →Carry out physician orders and accurately document care.
• →Review laboratory results and electronic medical records.
• →Perform skin assessments and implement pressure-injury prevention measures.
• →Assist with surgical and diagnostic procedures.
• →Provide care for patients with catheters and prostheses.
• →Participate in admission, discharge and transfer activities.
• →Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatments and procedures.
• →Participate in quality-improvement and required staff meetings.
• →Maintain complete and timely documentation in the VA electronic health record.

• Graduate of an approved professional nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE at the time the program was completed.
• Current unrestricted RN license in at least one U.S. state, territory, commonwealth or District of Columbia.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current BLS certification.
• ACLS certification when assigned to a specialty clinic.
• Minimum 1 year of direct patient-care experience within the previous 3 years.
• Ability to successfully complete VA credentialing and privileging requirements.
• Ability to meet VA health, immunization, background and mandatory training requirements.
• VA experience preferred.
