Change.org is searching for a VP of Engineering for Change.vote, shaping experiences for voters and elected officials that increase clarity, trust, and participation in democracy. You will shepherd the technical vision along with other pillar leadership and help enable other cross-functional partners to contribute technically to our product. You will report to our CTO. As a key member of our Elections team, you are an AI forward strategic executive leader focused on scaling, maturing and innovating in how the team operates.

  • Clear and strong AI collaboration model between the functions

  • Strong technical leadership as we evolve the ways in which we build our product

  • Deliver significant increases in user engagement and growth through product-driven growth initiatives.

  • Establish a strong, trusted partnership with the VP of Product—jointly owning growth strategy and execution.

  • Influence cross-functional alignment and company-wide direction on growth—establishing best practices and driving coordination across engineering, product, and marketing.

  • Drive Change.vote's data foundation strategy — a master data system reconciling external authorities with AI extraction and human-in-the-loop review to produce a provenanced, product-ready civic data corpus.

  • Cross functional collaboration and evolution using AI

  • High scale data platform leadership

  • Scaled consumer product experience

  • Building a product that can deal with bursty traffic patterns around elections

 
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including hands-on coding and architecture.

  • 7+ years in engineering leadership roles, including managing managers.

  • Proven experience leading new product teams or cross-functional squads.

  • Experience scaling products across diverse or international user bases.

  • Initial screen with Recruiter - 45 minutes

  • Hiring Manager interview - 45 minutes

  • Team interview - 180 minutes

  • Executive interview - 30 minutes
