Responsibilities
~3 min readWe are seeking a Senior Director of Global Revenue / Revenue Controller to own and drive ChargePoint’s entire global revenue function — from technical accounting and CECL reserves to ERP-based revenue automation, AI-powered process improvement, deep analytics, deals desk operations, contract review, and revenue operations. This executive will set the strategic direction for revenue accounting, ensure full compliance with ASC 606 and ASC 326 (CECL), and serve as a key business partner to the C-suite, Sales, Legal, IT, General Accounting, and FP&A on all matters affecting revenue recognition, deal structuring, and operational scalability.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned revenue accounting executive who is equally comfortable setting strategy and rolling up their sleeves to get the work done — this is a hands-on leadership role where the expectation is deep personal involvement in technical accounting research, memo writing, deal review, and system work alongside team leadership. ChargePoint’s management culture is one where leaders do the work, not just oversee it. The ideal candidate has deep SaaS/tech industry expertise, a proven track record of building and leading lean and agile high-performing global teams, hands-on experience driving automation through NetSuite ARM, use of AI tools, and the technical communication skills to write airtight accounting memos, argue complex positions before auditors, and translate technical conclusions clearly for non-accounting stakeholders. This leader will architect and continuously improve ChargePoint’s revenue infrastructure, enabling the company to scale across new product lines, regions, and go-to-market channels.
- → Serve as the executive owner of ChargePoint’s global revenue accounting function, setting strategy and maintaining full accountability for all revenue recognition, reporting, and compliance under ASC 606 and US GAAP
- →Lead all revenue technical accounting, including complex multi-element arrangements, variable consideration, principal vs. agent assessments, contract modifications, and CECL reserve methodology (ASC 326) for trade receivables and contract assets
- →Own end-to-end revenue accounting in NetSuite ERP using Advanced Revenue Management (ARM) — including configuration, automation, and continuous optimization of revenue recognition schedules and rules
- →Build and lead the Revenue Desk and Deals Desk functions, providing real-time technical guidance to Sales, Legal, and Finance on deal structuring, non-standard terms, and revenue impact analysis prior to contract execution
- →Own the contract review process, partnering with Legal and Sales Ops to evaluate revenue accounting implications of new and amended customer agreements at scale
- →Drive deep revenue analytics — including cohort analysis, disaggregation reporting, bookings-to-revenue bridge, ARR/MRR tracking, and ad hoc analysis to support executive decision-making and investor relations
- →Lead revenue operations, including month-end close, flux analysis, reconciliations, and coordination with General Accounting and FP&A on revenue forecasts and actuals; own all revenue-related external disclosures including 10-Q/K footnotes, disaggregation tables, and MD&A commentary
- →Partner with IT and Systems teams to lead the strategic roadmap for revenue automation and AI adoption — identifying and deploying AI tools to increase efficiency, improve accuracy, enhance analytics, and automate reporting across the revenue function; leverage NetSuite ARM and other financial technologies to eliminate manual effort at scale; support M&A due diligence, purchase accounting for revenue-related items, and integration of acquired entities
- →Monitor emerging accounting standards (FASB, SEC) and lead the company’s assessment and implementation of new guidance; develop and maintain global revenue accounting policies ensuring consistent application across all business units, geographies, and go-to-market channels; build, mentor, and develop a world-class global revenue accounting team with clear organizational structure, career paths, and succession plans
