About the Role
~1 min readAt Chime, the moment someone becomes a member is everything—it’s where trust begins, and where bad actors try to slip in. As an L4 Risk Analyst on the New Account Risk team, you will help protect Chime’s enrollment funnel from fraud while ensuring every legitimate applicant gets a fast, frictionless path to membership. You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Compliance, and Operations, digging into data to spot emerging fraud patterns and turning your findings into policies, dashboards, and recommendations the team can act on.
Your work will directly support the team’s two headline goals for 2026: improving the Funnel Enrollment Rate (FER) and reducing the post-enrollment synthetic identity theft rate.
The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $133,000.00 and up to $185,000.00. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
- Analyze enrollment and application data to identify opportunities to reduce synthetic identity and ID theft losses, with minimal impact to legitimate applicants (35%)
- Support the design, testing, and monitoring of new account risk policies and decision rules, partnering with Product and Engineering to ship improvements (30%)
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports that track Funnel Enrollment Rate, fraud loss, and approval/false-positive rates against team goals (20%)
- Monitor the performance of third-party vendor models and risk signals used at enrollment, flagging anomalies and trends to senior team members (10%)
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to fulfill ad-hoc analysis requests as needed (5%)
- 3+ years of experience in a Fraud, Risk, Compliance, or Investigations role, ideally with exposure to new account enrollment, identity fraud, or KYC/CIP
- Working knowledge of identity fraud domains such as synthetic identity and identity theft, and an interest in the threat landscape that targets enrollment funnels
- Strong SQL skills; familiarity with Python, R, or a similar analytical language preferred
- Experience with BI tools such as Looker, Hex, or equivalent
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Comfort using AI tools (e.g., Glean, Claude) to accelerate day-to-day analysis
- Exceptional detail-orientation and organizational skills; you’re eager to solve challenging analytical problems for our members
- The drive to work in a fast-paced environment and meet ambitious deadlines while ensuring flawless completion
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitatively rigorous discipline like engineering, statistics, math, or economics is preferred
- A passion for Chime’s mission
