QA Lab Technician 2nd shift

Job Summary We're looking for a Quality Assurance Lab Technician to support the testing, analysis, and validation of aerospace materials and components. In this role, you'll perform metallurgical testing, operate laboratory equipment, analyze test results, and help ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and quality requirements. Working closely with engineering and quality teams, you'll play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and performance of aerospace components.   Work That Matters At Chromalloy, your work directly supports aviation safety and reliability. What you do here has real-world impact—every day.   Shift: 2nd shift Monday-Friday 3:30p-12:00a Shift Differential: $2   What You’ll Be Doing Perform metallurgical testing and analysis on metals and aerospace alloys. Prepare samples for microscopic examination, chemical analysis, hardness testing, and other laboratory evaluations. Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment including microscopes, spectrometers, hardness testers, and related analytical instruments. Record, analyze, and interpret test results while maintaining accurate laboratory records. Prepare detailed reports and communicate findings to engineering, quality, and production teams. Conduct failure investigations and root cause analysis on components and materials. Ensure testing activities comply with applicable quality standards, specifications, and safety requirements. Support the development and continuous improvement of laboratory procedures, testing methods, and inspection protocols. Collaborate with metallurgists, engineers, and quality personnel to resolve technical issues and improve processes. Assist with research and development activities involving new materials, manufacturing processes, and repair technologies.   What We’re Looking For High school diploma or GED required; technical training in materials science, metallurgy, engineering technology, laboratory science, or a related field is a plus. Ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading and interpreting technical documentation. Experience working in a laboratory, manufacturing quality, materials testing, or related technical environment. Basic understanding of metallurgical principles, material properties, and testing techniques. Ability to operate laboratory equipment and follow standardized test procedures. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Ability to accurately collect, document, and interpret technical data. Proficiency with computer applications, laboratory software, and data analysis tools. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.   Nice to Have Aerospace, industrial manufacturing, or materials testing experience. Familiarity with metallurgical testing standards and laboratory quality systems. Experience conducting failure analysis and root cause investigations. Knowledge of microscopy, hardness testing, chemical analysis, or spectrometry. Experience supporting continuous improvement or process development initiatives.   Work Environment & Physical Requirements Laboratory and manufacturing environment supporting aerospace operations. Frequent standing, walking, and handling of test samples and laboratory equipment. Ability to work safely with testing equipment, chemicals, and laboratory processes. Strong visual attention to detail when conducting inspections and analyzing test results. Ability to lift and move materials and samples as needed. Commitment to maintaining a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
