Citi is looking for a Credit Officer to play a pivotal role in shaping sound credit decisions that directly influence the performance and growth of our small business and commercial lending portfolio. In this role, you will serve as a recognized subject matter authority, partnering closely with bankers and cross-functional teams to assess complex credit requests and deliver clear, risk-informed recommendations. You will also lead and mentor a team of 6 to 8 credit professionals, making this an exceptional opportunity to combine deep analytical expertise with meaningful people leadership.
## Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 6 to 8 Credit Analysts, providing guidance, supporting performance, and fostering a high-quality underwriting culture.
* Assess and underwrite commercial credit requests for new and existing clients, taking ownership of credit decisions that comply with risk policy standards and internal guidelines.
* Prepare comprehensive written credit summaries that analyze business viability, identify key risk factors and strengths, and render well-supported final credit recommendations.
* Conduct detailed financial analysis — including trend analysis, ratio analysis, and cash flow evaluation — on companies, individuals, guarantors, and co-borrowers to determine repayment capacity.
* Perform industry research, geographical due diligence, and review of complex business structures, including entities with foreign subsidiaries or parent organizations.
* Ensure ongoing compliance with Citi credit policies and regulatory requirements, supporting satisfactory outcomes in internal and external audits.
* Identify and drive process improvements across the credit underwriting function to enhance efficiency and improve client service outcomes.
## Required Qualifications & Skills
* 5–6 years of credit underwriting or credit authority experience within a financial institution, with a background in risk management.
* Demonstrated experience managing or leading a team of associates, with the ability to guide performance, develop talent, and foster collaboration across a group.
* Fluency in both English and Spanish (bilingual proficiency is required); applications and resumes must be submitted in English.
* Demonstrated ability to analyze individual and corporate financial statements, cash flow models, tax returns, and complex organizational structures — including entities with international operations.
* Solid grounding in accounting principles and their practical application in the credit underwriting process.
* Prior experience operating in a regulatory or compliance-driven environment, with a clear understanding of risk management frameworks.
* Proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines under pressure, and maintain a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and guiding colleagues across functions and seniority levels.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including financial modeling, graphs, and analytical tools.
## Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
* Familiarity with financial regulations and the regulatory landscape governing commercial banking and lending.
* Master's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
* Experience leading credit teams through process improvement initiatives or organizational change in a fast-paced financial services environment.

Joining our Commercial Banking team means stepping into a role where your expertise has a tangible impact — on the business, on your team, and on your own career trajectory. * A hybrid working model — 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely — giving you flexibility while keeping you connected to your team.
* People leadership responsibility from day one, with a team of 6 to 8 direct reports to guide, develop, and inspire.
* Access to Citi's global network, with opportunities to collaborate across business lines and geographies.
* Continuous learning and development support, including access to training programs and career advancement pathways within Citi's broad financial services ecosystem.
