JOB SUMMARY

The Convention & Visitors Bureau Manager develops and initiates projects, programs and events to encourage and promote the tourist and convention industry within the City of Conroe, including programs promoting Conroe's historic structures, attractions and hotels.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field required, with an advanced degree or extensive experience in advertising and public relations. Must have at least three years of related experience. Supervisory experience preferred.

Special Requirements:

Capable of working odd hours, weekends and some evenings. Microsoft experience in Word, Excel, etc. preferred. Possession of a Valid Texas "Class C" driver license or higher.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of marketing, advertising, promotion, accounting and forecasting practices. Must understand the issues from the various points of merchants, public agencies, property owners and community organizations.
  • Ability to maintain vital contacts and assist with events and activities.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with the public, business owners and community leaders.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is sedentary and requires the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: fingering, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, reaching, speaking, talking, visual acuity and walking.
