The main function of a Material Control Specialist is to perform the function of material coordination for the design and construction of engineering projects by completing material administrative tasks throughout the project cycle, ensuring correct scheduling of material to meet project requirements, and manage material documents necessary to complete the design, track status and reconcile material assets installed for projects.
Responsibilities
~1 min read* Coordinate material procurement for Technical Shared Services projects, ensuring correct and timely delivery of materials to support construction activities.
* Gather material cost and delivery information during the project planning phase.
* Prepare requisitions for materials and equipment and review terms of Vendor quotations to ensure they meet project requirements.
* Serve as liaison between the Plant and Pipeline design functions, Materials Management (includes traffic and inspection), Project Management and the construction site.
* Liaison with Williams Procurement and Project Engineer. Provide material related policies and procedures as guidance for procurement by the engineering contractor.
* Monitor progress of equipment and material procurement
* Assist Material Management in expediting to meet project schedules
* Monitor inspection activities
* Resolve problems associated with material delivery.
* Prepare material requisitions and equipment bid packages using engineering drawings, specifications and material lists
* Administer material control documents including requisitions, purchase orders, material transfers, receiving reports, etc.
* Handle (receive, route for review, coordinate approval, expedite certified) vendor approval drawings; Manage vendor drawings and technical data to ensure timely receipt for use in design, timely approvals to facilitate the fabrication schedule and proper retention to comply with DOT requirements.

Materials core control specialist, which involves procurement coordination, including receiving invoices, verifying them against purchase orders, and processing payments. The company is looking to fill two positions through the interview process. The role is primarily 70% procurement and 30% materials tracking. It is a full-time, on-site position, with no remote work options, but there might be a work-from-home option on Fridays. Extensions and potential conversions of the role are possible. The company is open to both entry-level candidates and those with 2-3 years of experience. Interviews are expected to start next week.
