PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency this class is accountable for stockroom or warehouse operations, including the full range of stores activities, such as receiving, storing, distributing, inspecting, inventorying, purchasing and all other related functions.\r\n
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
\r\n\r\n Oversees the entire stockroom or warehouse operations;�\r\n Receives and issues stock and maintains records of receipts, requisitions, and stock on hand;�\r\n Arranges stock in planned fashion, with due account taken of age, accessibility, safety and security;�\r\n Clarifies amount and condition of stock on hand and reports all discrepancies or need for replenishment;�\r\n Verifies quantity and quality of incoming supplies against invoices, dray bills, bills of lading and orders;�\r\n Makes purchases of equipment or supplies as necessary;�\r\n Maintains housekeeping and security of stores area;�\r\n Takes required inventory of materials and supplies;�\r\n Receives gas station reports and makes necessary corrections;�\r\n Keeps mileage and maintenance records of vehicles in car pool;�\r\n Inspects material handling equipment, scales, gas pumps and other allied storeroom equipment for accuracy and safety;�\r\n Codes and inventories furniture and equipment;�\r\n Operates material handling equipment;�\r\n May drive motor vehicles as assigned;�\r\n May enter data into a computer;�\r\n Performs related duties as required.\r\n\r\n\r\n
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
\r\n\r\n\r\n Knowledge of\r\n \r\n the methods of requisitioning, handling, storing and issuing of materials and supplies;�\r\n safe and efficient warehousing practices including purchasing;�\r\n \r\n \r\n Skills\r\n \r\n interpersonal skills;�\r\n oral and written communication skills;�\r\n \r\n \r\n Ability to\r\n \r\n keep accurate stock records and inventories;�\r\n utilize computer software.\r\n \r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of experience in stock or warehouse work or closely related work that could reasonably be expected to provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of the General Experience must have involved the full range of stores duties, including receiving, storing, issuing, inventorying, inspecting, etc. \r\nNOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Storekeeper.\r\n
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\r\n Experience working in a fast-paced environment, with sensitive timelines.\r\n Experience collaborating effectively as part of a team.\r\n Experience designing and maintaining systems and structures related to ordering, distributing and record keeping of materials and supplies.\r\n Demonstrates clear, effective communication and builds strong working relationships.\r\n Experience with systems that process incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and shipments.\r\n Experience physically delivering mail, packages, supplies and equipment throughout the Civil Engineer Office.\r\n Experience managing the regular service of state and/or federal vehicle, including re-fueling and general preventative maintenance schedules.\r\n Experience working with Military/Federal Supply organizations.\r\n Experience with federal hazardous material regulations and operating procedures.\r\n\r\n
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
\r\n Incumbents in this class may be required by the appointing authority to possess and retain appropriate current licenses, permits and/or certifications.\r\n \r\n Incumbents in this class must be willing to accept assignment to emergency duties, including snow and ice assignments, whenever their services are required.\r\n \r\n Incumbents in this class may be required to possess experience receiving and handling of specialized materials.\r\n \r\n\r\n
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
\r\n Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the class.\r\n A physical examination may be required.\r\n\r\n
WORKING CONDITIONS
\r\n Incumbents in this class may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights;�\r\n May be exposed to weather conditions and may be required to handle hazardous materials/chemicals.\r\n\r\n
