Student Machinist

A Student Machinist will learn to operate and monitor a variety of machine tools such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders or special purpose machines to shape metal work pieces to specification on a production basis.

The ideal candidate must currently be enrolled in High School in machinist classes program.

1. →Perform standard and repetitive machining using standard procedures, tools and equipment.
2. →Perform standard sizing and shape calculations using simple math and trig concepts and formulas.
3. →Learn to determine standard machine set-ups and tooling requirements.
4. →Learn to set-up machines.
5. →Effectively perform material handling activities such as crating, packing, shipping, receiving, picking, lifting, moving and using materials handling equipment when necessary (such as: lift trucks. tow motors, cranes, high lifts, etc.).
6. →Utilize small and large tools, hoists, dollies, and other devices when necessary.
7. →Comply with all safety procedures in each area assigned, including but not limited to, wearing protective clothing, special handling of chemicals, special handling of product, safety/rescue equipment usage, etc.
8. →Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.
9. →Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
10. →Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
11. →Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
12. →Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
13. →Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Currently enrolled in High School. Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English. Currently enrolled in machinist classes program. Ability to handle routine projects and tasks under moderate supervision. Ability to read simple blueprints and technical specifications. Ability to handle non-routine, standard projects and tasks. Basic understanding of mathematics including geometry and trigonometry. Ability to learn to work to close tolerance specifications.

Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 ponds, using proper lifting techniques or other available resources such as lifting or moving equipment or help from another employee. Regularly required to walk or stand, bend or twist, climb, reach with hands or arms. Specific vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
