Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations and assisting with the month-end close process. This role will maintain general ledger activity, prepare supporting schedules, complete assigned balance sheet reconciliations, and support the Accounting Manager with ongoing accounting activities and special projects.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Prepare journal entries related to fixed assets, prepaids, intangibles, debt, Concur out-of-pocket expenses, and JPM accruals.
- →Analyze account activity and investigate variances or discrepancies.
- →Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests.
- →Maintain supporting schedules, and reconciliations for assigned accounts as part of the monthly close process.
- →Maintain the general ledger and ensure assigned balance sheet accounts are accurate, complete, and properly supported.
- →Support the Accounting Manager with ad hoc accounting tasks, reporting needs, and special projects.
Requirements
~1 min readBachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 1+ years of experience in an accounting role focusing on month end close and general ledger activity.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills; able to interact effectively with internal teams including company leadership, and clients.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with business or finance software (experience with Salesforce and NetSuite is a strong plus).
- Reliable, process-oriented, and able to follow through consistently on recurring tasks.
- Comfortable working independently and coordinating with multiple stakeholders (e.g., project leadership, Finance and other corporate teams such as Compliance, etc.)
- Strong work ethic and sense of accountability; takes pride in accurate, timely work.
- Ability to work out of the Newton, Massachusetts office 50% of the time
