Boilermaker/Welder

Cleaver Brooks Sales and Service is looking for a Boilermaker/Welder to join our team in Corpus Christi, TX. The Boilermaker is responsible for traveling daily to customer sites to assemble boilers, tanks, vats, and pressure vessels according to blueprint specifications, using power tools and hand tools. 

Job Location: Corpus Christi, TX 

Boilermaker/Welder Essential Functions: 

• Assembles boilers, tanks, vats, and pressure vessels according to blueprint specifications, using power tools and hand tools 
• Reads blueprint to determine location and relationship of parts. 
• Connects fire tubes to heads or water tubes to drums and headers of boilers, by expanding and belling ends, using tube expander and beading ends, using power hammer. 
• Piping Lay out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for boiler systems by threading or by sweating copper pipe or pro-press fittings. 
• Selects type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications. 
• Inspects worksites to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that piping integrity will not cause structural weakness. 
• Be proficient in ASME code SMAW and TIG welding. 
• Must be proficient with cutting torch and be able to carbon arc gouge. 
• Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specs, using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools. 
• Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes. 
• Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt traps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting. 
• Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences. 
• Able to work at heights and in confined spaces, such as manways, pressure vessels, tanks, etc. 
• Tests piping system for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks. 

Basic Requirements: 

Education: 

• A High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory. 
• ASME Welder certification 

Experience:  

• 3 years’ experience as a welder and/or boilermaker 
• Physically, workers must be able to: Work easily and skillfully with hands; lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; see well (either naturally or with correction); climb and maintain balance on high ladders and scaffolds; and stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch. 
• Must have a valid current driver’s license with a clean driving record. 
• Must be willing and able to pass a hair follicle DISA drug screen. 

Working Conditions and Hazards:   

Knowledge of Industrial & commercial safety, General Basic plus Safety, LOTO, working overhead, confined space entry, basic electricity safety.
