Welder Foreman

Welder Foreman position.   

Must have minimum three years’ experience running pipe and structural welding crews as well as experience with pipe fitting, assembly of boilers, tanks, and pressure vessels according to blueprint specifications or manuals. Researches technical drawings/diagrams/materials to ensure appropriate parts pulled for a specific job. Capable of communicating job scope and progress with customer and company management.   

Essential Functions ... 

• Subject Matter Expert in ASME code SMAW and GTAW welding. 
• Must be proficient with cutting torch and be able to carbon arc gouge. 
• Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specs, using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools. 
• Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes. 
• Lay out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met. 
• Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers. 
• Locate and mark work piece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications. 
• Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt traps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting. 
• Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences. 
• Planning sequence of re-tubes to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers. 
• Overseeing and providing direction to craft labor executing daily work activities in the shop. 
• Make decisions based on measurable criteria; and visualize objects in three-dimensions from plans and drawings. 
• Follow all company’s policies and procedures, including but not limited to Safety and Quality Control. 
• Travel as required. (up to 50% of the time, usually within 200 miles) 
• Apply intellect, creativity, adaptability, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results. 
• Able to work in confined spaces, such as manways, pressure vessels, tanks, etc. 
• Support peers and management with internal and external projects. 
• Other duties as assigned.  

Physical Skill and Effort ... 

Able to lift 50 pounds. 

Working Conditions and Hazards ... 

• Knowledge of Industrial & commercial safety, General Basic plus Safety, LOTO, working overhead, confined space entry, basic electricity safety.  
• Able to work in confined and elevated areas.  Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and stand for prolonged periods of time. 

Education and experience:  

High School diploma or equivalent.  

3 years’ experience as a craft foreman/supervisor 

Certification: 

SMAW and GTAW certifications
