About the Role

The Interconnection Manager will be responsible for managing utility-scale solar and energy storage projects through the full generator interconnection process, from interconnection application preparation and submittal through LGIA execution and implementation. The Interconnection Manager will maintain a strong understanding of utility tariffs, interconnection procedures, and evolving regulatory and policy developments related to generation interconnection and transmission expansion planning. Additional responsibilities include participation in stakeholder engagement processes, supporting interconnection strategy, and assisting in commercial activities as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned projects through the interconnection study process by identifying milestone requirements, tracking deadlines, coordinating stakeholder inputs, and ensuring required deliverables are completed, reviewed, and submitted on time to maintain project progression.
  • Support LGIA negotiation and execution.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of generation interconnection business practices, tariff language, and interconnection process frameworks.
  • Review, summarize, and communicate project interconnection study results.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and develop strong working relationships with external interconnection stakeholders including utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and transmission providers.
  • Build, maintain, and regularly update project interconnection records in company systems.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination for the submission of materials required for project interconnection activities, from interconnection application through interconnection agreement.
  • Assist with the coordination of payment requests and financial security issuance necessary to support interconnection activities.
  • Serve as the interconnection subject matter expert to support RFP responses, offtake discussions, financing diligence, etc.
  • Maintain strong organization and accountability across project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, finance, economics, or related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years in the power generation industry, including;
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting transmission-level interconnections for utility-scale projects.
  • Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, and processes.
  • Skills/Attributes:
    • Demonstrated knowledge of generator interconnection processes in U.S. energy markets with direct experience in one or more ISO/RTO or vertically integrated utility regions, including but not limited to WECC, CAISO, SPP, MISO, PJM, SERC, or ERCOT.
    • Ability to manage milestones, deadlines, and deliverables across multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks, evaluate alternatives, and recommend practical next steps.
    • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate project records, milestone tracking, and documentation.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in engineering, business, finance, economics, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of electric power systems, transmission grid infrastructure, and utility-scale renewable energy technologies.
  • Understanding of generator interconnection modeling requirements and applicable NERC modeling standards.
  • Proficiency with task tracking, project management, and collaboration tools, such as Asana, Microsoft Lists, Smartsheet, SharePoint, or similar platforms.
