Job Purpose:
The fundamental reason for this position is to aid Cold Lake First Nations Community Members in the form of a wide range of home support and domestic services. The goal is to promote the client’s ability to live as independently as possible in his or her own home.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Homemaker shall ensure that the following services are provided to the client.
Client Services/Cleaning:
- Light Housekeeping Duties – Vacuuming/Sweeping, Dusting, Wash Floors, Clean Bathroom(s), Prepare Meals, Clean Kitchen, Laundry, Make Beds/Clean Bedroom, Care of Equipment, Wash Windows (inside), Wash Walls. ETC.
- Major Cleaning – Spring and Fall
- Light Cooking - Meals for elders when time permits.
- Clean Refrigerator - Report/Check for food spoilage (request permission before discarding).
- Perform all general duties deemed necessary.
- Social Interaction with clients to ensure proper services is provided. Also, general visiting when time permits.
- Homemakers will not enter a client’s home without prior permission and indicate they were there by leaving a note. (Health door tag - While you were out)
- Homemakers are obligated to leave immediately when the clients home have alcohol/drugs in use and report this incident to Supervisor.
- When client requires additional services - Possible Overtime hours will apply. (Prior approval is required through your supervisor).
- Other duties and/or training as requested by Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Health Care Aid Certificate preferred but not necessary. Willing to train the right candidate.
- Have strong personal and work references.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Updated and maintained Driver’s Abstract on employee file yearly. (Driver’s Abstracts will be reimbursed upon proof of receipt.)
- Strong Interpersonal Skills
- Mandatory Oath of Confidentiality - In Office and within Client’s home.
- The ability to speak Dene and Cree is considered an asset.
- Standard First Aid C.P.R and WHMIS.
- A clear criminal record is required prior to employment
- Must have reliable transportation.
