Restorative Measures Coordinator
Quick Summary
Co-develop and implement a community-based restorative justice program. Facilitate restorative justice circles (healing, sentencing, conflict resolution).
Office environment. Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 4:30pm, Friday 8:30am – 2:00pm. Working hours can vary and may require a flexible schedule depending on type of assignment or work plan task.
Reports To: Director of Community Safety
Job Purpose:
To support the development and implementation of a community-based restorative process rooted in Dene values and traditions. The coordinator will co-develop the start-up, coordinate, and deliver restorative initiatives by working closely with the director of community safety, the FCSS justice supports worker, Elders, leadership, community members, and partner agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Co-develop and implement a community-based restorative justice program.
- Facilitate restorative justice circles (healing, sentencing, conflict resolution).
- Recruit and support circle keepers and facilitators.
- Liaise with RCMP, Victim Services, Corrections, Crown Prosecutors, and other partners.
- Conduct community outreach and awareness activities.
- Ensure Elders and cultural practices are embedded in programming.
- Develop policies and procedures for a start-up department.
- Track outcomes and complete reporting for funding partners.
- Maintain confidential case files.
- Support program growth and sustainability.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Post-Secondary education in restorative justice, social work, or related field.
- Experience facilitating circles or mediation.
- Experience in Indigenous or community justice settings.
- Understand trauma-informed practice.
- Ability to pass a Criminal Records Check, including the vulnerable sector.
- Familiarity with Cold Lake First Nations community.
- Dene language is an asset.
- Ability to build relationships with community and partners.
- Strong organizational and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently in a start-up environment.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
- Office environment. Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 4:30pm, Friday 8:30am – 2:00pm.
- Working hours can vary and may require a flexible schedule depending on type of assignment or work plan task.
- Evening and weekend work may be required to attend meetings, events, and community engagement sessions.
