Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Plan and host campus events with support and coordination with Success Coaches and identify and promote existing campus events
- →Research program-specific needs and conduct outreach to other College Possible Texas students
- →Meet with students in person on campus and/or virtually to provide direct college transition mentoring and support in areas including, but not limited to: freshman orientation, acclimating to college life and coursework, alignment with major and career interests, social life, and connection with campus based resource
- →Collaborate with Success Coaches to mentor and develop tailored strategies for supporting portfolio of students
- →Conduct research, provide referrals, arrange meetings, and accompany students to appointments as necessary.
- →Serve as a College Possible Texas student ambassador, collaborating with staff to communicate the mission to external partners and supporters.
- →Assist College Possible Texas staff and leadership team with program design improvement
- →Represent the organization to school personnel, professional organizations, educators, funders, and the public.
- →Ensure program compliance with administrative policies and procedures, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- →Serve 12-15 hours a week on site
- Coordinate with the supervisor and full-time members to order, maintain, and inventory program supplies and files.
- Think and plan strategically to support organizational stability and success.
- Respect and maintain the organizational mission, ethos, and core values.

- EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma; successful past participation in the College Possible Texas program; a track record of actively pursuing a baccalaureate degree from an accredited, academically-recognized four-year college or university; two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent communication skills; English/Spanish fluency strongly preferred. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general educational and business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the general public, clients, students, partners, and managers.
- COMPUTER AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and standard office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access. Ability to work with standard, high school-level mathematical concepts such as probability, arithmetic, geometry, algebra and trigonometry for purposes of monitoring program statistics. Ability to apply such concepts as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this position, the AmeriCorps member is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The AmeriCorps member is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The AmeriCorps member may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The physical demands described here are representative of those that are typically required of members to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
