CompTech Computer Technologies is seeking an experienced Database Administrator – Level III to provide advanced database administration and technical support in support of the Defense Health Agency (DHA). This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, security, availability, integrity, and performance of critical enterprise database systems and data assets. The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on database administration experience, advanced troubleshooting and performance-tuning capabilities, and demonstrated expertise supporting secure, highly available database environments. This position also requires the ability to translate functional and technical requirements into appropriate database and storage solutions while maintaining comprehensive technical documentation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Administer, maintain, monitor, and support enterprise database systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Perform database installation, configuration, maintenance, performance monitoring, security administration, and backup and recovery
  • Monitor database health, availability, capacity, performance, and integrity and proactively identify potential issues.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex database problems.
  • Conduct database performance tuning and optimization to ensure database configurations and resources support optimal performance.
  • Analyze queries, database configurations, resource utilization, and other performance indicators to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Implement and maintain database security controls, user accounts, permissions, roles, and appropriate access to data.
  • Support database backup, restoration, recovery, and continuity activities to protect critical organizational data.
  • Assist with defining functional requirements, data relationships, data structures, and storage requirements.
  • Work with application developers, systems administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and other technical teams to support database-dependent applications and services.
  • Support database upgrades, patches, migrations, configuration changes, and maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot database connectivity, configuration, performance, access, and application-integration issues.
  • Maintain database integrity and support processes designed to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of organizational data.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintenance guides, technical documentation, and knowledge-base articles for supported database systems.
  • Document database configurations, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting activities, technical resolutions, and operational processes.
  • Participate in on-call support as required to support database availability and operational continuity.
  • Follow established incident-management, change-management, configuration-management, security, and maintenance procedures.
  • Collaborate across technical teams to resolve complex incidents and maintain reliable database services.

Requirements

  • Active Secret Clearance

  • Six (6) years of progressive experience in systems administration or a related IT infrastructure discipline demonstrating advanced proficiency.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience administering and maintaining enterprise servers and infrastructure.
  • Experience with server management, network management, user account management, security administration, and backup/recovery.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and utilizing scripts to automate system administration tasks.
  • Experience performing advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of complex infrastructure and system issues.
  • Experience monitoring and optimizing system performance, reliability, and availability.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, including SOPs, maintenance guides, and knowledge-base articles.
  • Experience supporting system security, access controls, patching, configuration, and maintenance activities.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.
  • Ability to satisfy the security and background investigation requirements associated with the position.

 

Bachelor’s degree or applicable equivalency.

  • CompTIA CASP+ / SecurityX
  • (ISC)² CISSP
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate or equivalent
  • Oracle Database Administration Certified Professional or equivalent

 

  • $80,000 - $90,000 plus full Benefits, PTO, 401k+
