The Director of Software Engineering is responsible for leading a team of entry level to experienced professionals focused on software development to deliver the business units product according to required specifications. This role supports cross-functional teams to innovate the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for proper estimations, outputs, and architecting scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

→Sets goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results
→Typically manages a department or small unit that includes multiple teams
→Influences others to accept practices and approaches
→Communicates and influences executive leadership
→Owns short to mid-term execution of functional strategy and the operational direction of the Engineering team
→Leads and prioritizes the daily activities of the team
→Manages, mentors, and coaches to develop a collaborative and dynamic team
→Coordinates cross-functional communication to align on initiatives and strategies to drive efficiency
→Builds positive and collaborative relationships within the team and organization
→Manages multiple, dissimilar deliverables and trains others on deliverables as needed
→Plans and drives high quality deliverables aligned to the organization's strategy
→Exhibits a high degree of creativity, latitude, and judgment
→Writes product requirement documents, implements and tracks development timelines, and negotiates feature sets
→Maintains a deep understanding of programming and coding fundamentals, architecture, and design in multiple languages

Ability to address complex problems that often require extensive investigation and analysis

Strong organizational skills to give the team direction
Professional presence suitable for interaction in meetings, in-person or via email
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Has a deep understanding of coding fundamentals, architecture and design in multiple languages, and technologies
Knowledge of a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
Ability to understand complex algorithms
Advanced understanding of how a Managed Service Provider (MSP) operates from a business standpoint
