Job Summary: Reports to the Compliance and Audit Practice Leader and assists compliance and consulting staff and clients with general regulatory and legislative issues and projects as requested. Provide support for the Form 5500 filing process, the plan document process, the claims audit process, and the knowledge management and intellectual capital development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and coordination to the Employee Benefits/Compliance Team in terms of managing and overseeing the direction of small and big details of everyday internal team and external client work related to compliance issues, including in support of various governmental filings (RxDC, Gag Clause, Medicare Part D, etc.).
  • Work directly with clients and Account Teams to provide excellent day-to-day service.
  • Project management/coordination of cross-functional teams to ensure completion.
  • Assist with the preparation of draft plan documents including ERISA welfare plan documents, section 125 plan documents, and plan documentation for clients not subject to ERISA.
  • Assist with the preparation of Forms 5500 for clients (annually); support the Account Teams during the filing process; ensure the Forms are accurate and complete; act as a resource for clients during the submission (electronic signature) process; prepare the summary annual reports (SARs).
  • Assist the audit team with preparation of claim audit proposals and fee agreements; review/update of SBCs; collection of plan documents and review of plan structure against plan documents; and focusing on health plan benefit features (such as deductibles, OOP maximums, exclusions, prior authorization, and in- and out-of-network provisions).
  • Assist staff and clients (by answering questions) with regulatory and legislative compliance/ adherence with existing and emerging federal laws including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, Section 125, Healthcare Reform, Medicare secondary payer rules, Medicare D, and other federal mandates, as well as NJ state and other laws.
  • Attend staff meetings and training as needed/required.
  • Perform other tasks, duties and functions as assigned from time to time in the routine compliance oversight process.
  • Work independently on special projects related to client facing or departmental tasks.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products; Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Self-starter, flexible, and able to multitask with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem solving, interpersonal, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain aspects of job as confidential.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without Company sponsorship.

Individual will work in a professional office environment with a moderate noise level. Able to work flexible hours and travel to other Conner Strong & Buckelew offices and client work sites, as directed.

Salary for this position ranges from $62,000.00 - $75,000.00. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.  Qualifying positions will also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, such as participation in family medical and dental insurance programs, 401K plan, and PTO.
