Responsibilities

ASL Interpreting:

• Provide effective communication facilitation between multiple parties, working to and from ASL and English
• Understand cultural and linguistic differences between communities and respond accordingly

Expectations

• Submit paperwork on time and as required
• Superior interpersonal skills
• Adhere to the RID Code of Professional Conduct

Minimum Requirements

• National Interpreter Certification (NIC)
• Ethical decision making
• Excellent customer service relations
• Interpersonal skills and ability to interact with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds (customers, colleagues, and management)
• Knowledge of educational vocabulary and a strong understanding of Deaf culture.

Candidates May Be Required to Complete

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting
• Drug test
